TikTok or X blocked my domain? What to do

"TikTok blocked my domain" usually means one of three things. The app won't let you post the link, fans see a warning before it opens, or the link disappears later. X, Facebook and the other big apps work much the same, and the fix runs in the same order everywhere: find where the block shows, check your domain against Google's Safe Browsing list, fix the cause, then ask the app to review it.

Don't jump to a new domain. X says it may suspend accounts that try to get around a link block. More on that below.

A block shows as a link you can't post, a warning to fans, or a link removed later. Then check Google Safe Browsing, fix the cause, and ask the app to review it. Don't switch domains just to dodge a block.

where a block shows up

  • You can't post it. X's message reads: "You can't complete this action because this link has been identified by X or our partners as being potentially harmful" (X Help, our approach to blocking links).
  • Fans see a warning. X can add a warning fans can click through, and those links also get limited visibility on X (same page). Snapchat checks links against Google's Safe Browsing service and shows an alert for flagged ones (Snapchat Support, Google Safe Browsing).
  • It's removed later. TikTok removes links that break its rules and says it "may also temporarily stop you from posting links" (TikTok Community Guidelines, external links). YouTube may remove a link it can't verify as safe, and emails you when it removes content that breaks its rules (YouTube external links policy).

Not every warning is a block. LinkedIn shows a warning on every link that leaves LinkedIn, with the full address, so members can judge the site (LinkedIn Help, external link warning).

first, check your domain with Google Safe Browsing

Search your domain in Google's Safe Browsing site status. Snapchat uses Safe Browsing to warn people about links, and Google says many of the unsafe sites it finds "are legitimate websites that have been compromised." If your site is flagged, find and fix the hacked or harmful page first. Snapchat points site owners to Google's form for an incorrect phishing warning when a flag is wrong.

fix the cause before you ask for a review

The apps' own pages name the usual causes:

  • Redirects and shorteners. Pinterest blocks "links that redirect to other pages" and says it doesn't allow "certain redirects or URL shorteners" (Pinterest Help, fix a broken link). X acts on "malicious redirected links" and shorteners "primarily used to mislead". Link straight to the page.
  • Links that mislead. Meta's spam policy names links that promise one thing and deliver another, and cloaking: showing Meta's review systems something different from what people see (Meta Transparency Center, spam).
  • What's on the page. X, YouTube and TikTok all block or remove links to content they wouldn't allow on the app itself.
  • How you share it. Telegram limits accounts that people report for spam, and its FAQ warns that people mind getting "unsolicited advertisements, links" from strangers (Telegram Spam FAQ).

app by app: where to ask for a review

Each row comes from the app's own help pages, checked 2026-10-26. For Instagram, see Instagram blocked my domain.

App What its help says Where to ask
TikTok Removes links that break its rules; may pause your link posting The violation notice: Inbox, System notifications, Account updates (TikTok, content violations)
X Blocks the link with an error, or adds a warning X's form, with the full address, not a shortened one
Facebook Removes content that breaks its Community Standards For a removed post: Profile, Options, Profile Status, then Request review (Facebook Help); the Sharing Debugger shows errors on your address
Threads Removes posts that break its Community Guidelines; most decisions can be reviewed Ask for a review from the notice, or Profile, Menu, Account Status; replies can take up to 90 days (Threads Help)
Snapchat Warns on links Google Safe Browsing flags Google, not Snapchat: fix the site, then report a wrong flag
Telegram Limits accounts reported for spam; its FAQ describes no domain review @SpamBot, if you think the limit is wrong (Telegram Spam FAQ)
YouTube Removes links that break its rules; may remove links it can't verify as safe YouTube Studio, or the form in the email; up to 1 year after a removal (YouTube Help, appeals)
Pinterest Blocks redirects, shorteners and spammy links Edit the link on your own Pin, or Contact us in Pinterest's help centre
LinkedIn Warns on every link that leaves LinkedIn We found no link review form in its help centre; use its Contact us page

should you switch to a new domain?

Not to get around a block. X says accounts that "attempt to circumvent a block on the sharing a link" may face more enforcement, including suspension. Meta's spam policy also bans cloaking, showing its review systems something different from what people see. Fix the cause and ask for a review instead.

Switching for your own reasons, a new name or branded links on a custom domain, is fine if you plan for the old links. Every link you've already posted keeps its old address: in videos, bios, Telegram channel posts and pinned messages. Keep the old domain working and redirecting to the new one for as long as those posts get taps.

A branded domain carries only your own reputation. A shared shortener's domain carries the reputation of everyone who uses it, and X and Pinterest both name shorteners in their link rules. Own domains on linkboo are coming soon.

If the link posts fine and fans land signed out or can't check out, that's the app's in-app browser, not a block. Logged out after tapping a link? explains it. For TikTok, start with the TikTok in-app browser or TikTok link not clickable. On Pro, linkboo's deeplinking gets fans out of the app's browser and into their own; see pricing.

Why did TikTok remove the link in my bio?

TikTok removes links that lead to content its Community Guidelines don't allow, and may stop you posting links for a while. The notice in your Inbox says why, and you can appeal from it if you think it's a mistake.

How do I get my domain unblocked on X?

Fix whatever caused it, then report the block with X's form at help.x.com/forms/spam. X asks for the full address of the link, not a shortened one.

Will switching domains break my links?

Every link you've already posted keeps the old address, so keep the old domain working and redirecting. Switching just to dodge a block can make things worse: X says it may suspend accounts that try to get around one.

Does a link shortener get around a block?

No. X and Pinterest both name shorteners and redirects in their link rules, and a shared shortener's domain carries the reputation of everyone who uses it.

Stop losing the click after the tap.

linkboo Pro gets fans out of the app's browser and into their own.
